PHO 320 Fashion Photography 

Prerequisite: PH0 260 & PHO 270 

Our visual culture has been altered by the popularization of technology such as the Internet. In a world saturated with imagery, the boundaries that once existed between art and commerce have become less clear, no where is this more prevalent than in the world of fashion photography. In this class we will explore the line between fashion and fine art. We will look at the history of the genre and how it has evolved in today’s world. We will examine the symbiotic relationship between fashion photography and culture as well as how other photographic trends have influenced the genre. By working with models and stylist both in the studio and on location, assignments will facilitate the development of each student’s personal style and aesthetic.
